Halloween Hairstyles

This year we are bringing our A-game with our Halloween hairstyles and costumes. So many iconic songs, celebrity moments and movies came out this year, and what better way to celebrate than with a halloween themed hairstyle and look that’ll bring you all the double-taps!

If you’re tired of the basic vampire, sexy nurse, Dracula, Jack 'o Lantern halloween costumes, that bring no attention to your hair and makeup, allow us to hit you with a fresh set of ideas. It’s time to level things up—we’re talking Halloween hairstyles and looks inspired by Olivia Rodrigo’s addictive tunes, Marvel’s female superheroes, reboots and sequels of classic shows and more. Keep scrolling to see, and we’re sure you’ll find something you absolutely love. Here are some of our favorite Halloween hairstyles and looks to give you some inspiration.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Album Cover

When Gen-Z’s Taylor Swift aka Olivia Rodrigo dropped ‘SOUR’, even ones in the steadiest of relationships felt her lyrics sink deep into their soul. If you’re looking for a last minute, low-investment halloween hairstyle and costume idea, recreating her album cover is your best bet. Grab a sticker pack full of butterflies, sparkly stars, clouds, smiley faces and you’re all set.

Then go in and complete your look with a white tank and smooth wavy hair that you can easily create with the Luxy curling wand and brunette hair extensions like our Seamless Mocha Bronde Balayage. Make sure to check out our Olivia Rodrigo hairstyles post for more hair inspo.

Wanda Maximoff from WandaVision

If the plot of this show has affected you as deeply as it has us, you know you gotta honor Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch with your Halloween costume this year. Black pleather leggings, a red corset and a matching long-line coat is all you need. If you want to nail the entire look, add a pair or red contact lenses and red gloves too. For your hair, use a curling wand to alternatively curl sections of hair towards and away from your face, then use a volumizing spray to give it an undone, natural look. Remember not to shy away from putting in red hair extensions for a fuller look.

Xialing from Shang Chi

Xialing is giving us major girl boss vibes with her jet black blunt bob. After Meng'er Zhang fought against using the stereotypical colored streaks for rebellious Asian female characters, Marvel Studios agreed to use her natural black hair in all its glory. Use a hair straightener to achieve her pin straight hair. Finish the outfit with an all black ensemble, crop top and a red lip.

Natasha Romanoff from Black Widow

We’re still reeling from all the action this movie gave us, so it’s fitting if you want to bring some of that energy to your Halloween costume this year. Whether you choose to go all black or all white, we just know this costume will spark much conversation. Once you’ve nailed the costume down, the hairstyle ideas for this look are endless—think neat french braid, a braided low ponytail, a ponytail with baby braids. So many options, so little time.

Rue from Euphoria

Zendaya’s smart aleck portrayal of an angsty teenager is probably one of the easiest costumes to pull off. Find your largest oversized hoodie and wear that over a tie dye T-shirt. Grab a pair of black converse sneakers.

To master her iconic glittery tears make up try using a sparkly eyeshadow and add some rhinestones to top it off. Her relaxed curls can be achieved with our Velcro Roller Set.

Daphne Bridgerton from Bridgerton

Where the old world charm of peasant dresses meet half-up-half-down hair and romantic silk gloves. Bring a little bit of the magic of the 1800s to the present day by making Daphne Bridgerton’s girl-next-door look yours. Bridgerton's impeccable costumes and retro hairdos have already inspired many tea parties this year so why not make this your Halloween inspiration too?

Daphne’s parted bangs were constants to many looks that she wore through the show. Everything from tight curls to defined ringlets accessorized with bows, hair pins and tiaras. If you’re looking to dress it up and romantically style your hair like a princess this Halloween then, this is your sign.

Kang Sae-byeok from Squid Games

You are bound to see many green track suits on Halloween due to the overnight Netflix sensation Squid Games. This thrilling show's grimly premise had everyone on the edge of their seats and inspired countless parodies on Tiktok.

One of the breakout stars is Hoyeon Jung, one of the main stars and arguably one of the most likeable characters. She is also known as Korea's top model at the moment and viewers can't get enough of her effortless look even when she's playing in a game with life and death stakes. Fun fact: she's also real life BFF's with Jennie from BlackPink!

To create this look you'll need a green track suit and a pair of white sneakers. Kang Sae-byeok's short do is reminiscent of this year's shag mullet. To create her "haven't slept in days" make up look use a pale pink eyeshadow to line your under eyes and then a brown pencil liner to create some freckles along the bridge of your nose.

Nicole Kidman in the Undoing

We would be lying if we said Nicole Kidman’s bouncy, defined curls aren’t the reason we started watching this show. Her character’s style is classy—think, velvet trench coats, printed scarves and over-the-knee boots etc. Once you have these essentials stacked, recreating her hairstyle is exactly what you need to do next. Check out this step-by-step tutorial on how to get Nicole Kidman’s curls and you’ll be set.

Taylor Swift’s Folklore

While we made whipped coffees and tie-dyed all our white tees, our longtime BFF Taylor Swift dropped her surprise sister albums, Folklore and then Evermore. Her latest albums showed how she has evolved as an artist and once again experimented with multiple genres to create a sonically cohesive album that was mellow, sweet and mysterious.

The vibe of her album fits in with the cottage core trend and calls for warm flannels, braided hair, cozy knits and checkered prints. So, if you’re looking for something comfy yet iconic for your Halloween costume this year, a Taylor Swift whimsical look, inspired by Folklore is waiting for you. To channel Taylor go for a braided hairstyle or tousled blonde waves.

Devi Vishwakumar from Never Have I Ever

If you love a good back-to-school look, let Devi Vishwakumar serve as inspo this Halloween. Her relatable and vibrant ‘fits are ones you can put together by layering a few things from your closet. Try a corduroy skirt, white tee layered over a bright-coloured tank. Then throw on a press-on nose ring, a pair of Doc Martens and you’ll have successfully Devi’d yourself. We love how Devi wears her hair in naturally tousled waves that you can easily achieve with the Luxy Hair Velcro Rollers so you can get cute curls without the heat damage.

Cruella de Vil From Cruella

We weren’t ready for the impeccable styling Emma Stone served up as Cruella de Vil! Equal parts gorgeous and viscous, Cruella’s half black, half white hair and signature red lip make for an ideal Halloween hairstyle and costume, don’t you think? The movie showcases her hair in defined, voluminous curls, short and styled to messy perfection. Amongst many other looks, this one can easily be your go-to Halloween hairstyle.

A ½ inch curling iron, or smaller, spruced up with a whole lotta hairspray can help you achieve her hairstyle. Once you have that black and white ‘do, it’s time to get experimental with your style too—trust us when we say you can never go wrong with recreating an iconic Halloween hairstyle like Cruella’s look.

Sarah Jessica Parker in And Just Like That...

And just like that, they’re back and bringing us all the hairstyle and fashion inspo we need in this Sex and The City reboot. If there’s one way to celebrate their return, it’s gotta be to recreate one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest looks from the show. Her New York style has always been trendy and iconic, but this time around we can see how it’s getting stop-and-stare level chic.

To create a Halloween hairstyle and look inspired by the timeless Carrie Bradshaw, you gotta bring your A-game with larger-than-life hair accessories, hats and scarves topped with a matching set or printed skirt and top.

The Kardashians

Can you believe these ladies have been around for 20 whole seasons?! Incredible to see how far they’ve come, entertaining us all the way through. Their halloween hairstyles and costumes have always turned heads, and got all of our double-taps, so why not take on their personas this year. Think iconic mermaid waves, a skims bodysuit and a pair of Good American jeans—a classic and comfy Halloween style idea that you should definitely consider.

Lola Bunny from Space Jam

In the current climate of remakes and reboots, we were so glad to see Space Jam make a comeback too. And our favorite Lola Bunny, a teamplayer and animated style icon is here showing us how it’s done. Once you have your ‘Toon Squad’ kit, tie your hair up in a ponytail using a Gravity-Defying Hair Tie for that extra pony pop.

Elle from Legally Blonde

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the first Legally Blonde movie came out? What more reason do you need to recreate a head-to-toe pink, Elle Woods-inspired blonde look. Moreover you get to bring back Y2K’s trendiest hairstyles for Halloween this year—butterfly clips, headbands and more. Carry along your pink compact mirror to check in and make sure your look holds up through the night. If you’re going down the Elle Woods route, just know we’re always cheering you on. Oh, and don’t forget to bend and snap!
