Clip in hair extensions can be used to get longer, thicker hair for a variety of hair types. From fine or straight hair to coily or kinky hair types, we’ll show you how easy it is to blend Luxy Hair extensions with Type 3 or Type 4 hair. Because Luxy Hair extensions are made with 100% remy human hair, the extensions come naturally straight. If you are looking to wear your hair curly, here’s a tutorial for how to blend your hair extensions with curly hair. Otherwise, read on to learn how to blend Luxy Hair extensions with Type 4 hair while wearing the hair straight.
Step 1
Start with fresh, clean hair, and brush it to remove any knots or tangles. Then, either blow dry the hair straight with a round brush or straighten the hair. Be sure to use a heat protectant prior to heat styling, as curlier hair types tend to be naturally dry and heat styling can cause additional dryness or damage. Applying a heat protectant before heat styling will lock in moisture and reduce any heat damage on hair strands.
Step 2
Starting at the nape of your neck, gather all your hair to the back of your head and clip it out of the way, leaving a tiny bit of hair at the bottom.
Step 3
Tease that piece of hair and bobby pin it out of the way at the nape of your neck. This is helpful if you have shorter hair to keep those shorter pieces out of the way and give you a more seamless blend. Then, clip a 3-clip weft in.
Step 4
Section off your hair again, about an inch above the first section, and tease the hair again. This gives the clips more grip to hold on to and prevent the weft from slipping throughout the day. Clip another 3-clip weft in.
Step 5
Continue sectioning the hair, teasing it, and clipping your wefts in, until you have clipped the widest 4-clip weft at the widest part of your head. This is where you should stop, otherwise the wefts may show through if they are clipped any higher.
Step 6
Leave out some face framing layers, then part one side of your hair at eyebrow length and clip a 2-clip weft in for added volume around the face. Do the same on the other side.
Step 7
Finally, fill any areas that need more volume or length with the 1-clip wefts. Now it’s time to style!
Tip: If you have a Deluxe Hair Extensions Styler, you can style or curl your hair extensions before clipping them in, and simply touch up your natural hair to blend it in.
Step 8
Once all your wefts have been clipped in, tease any little bit of hair at the top of your head to add more volume and conceal any clips fully.
Step 9
Brush through your hair with a Loop Hair Extensions Brush. Using a Loop Hair Extensions Brush will ensure that there is no pulling or snagging at the roots as the bristles have unique loops that glide over wefts easily.
Step 10
Add some more heat protectant to protect your hair extensions. For a beach wave look, use a curling wand with a 1 - 1 ½ inch barrel size. This will allow you to get a natural looking blend.
That’s it! Experiment with a voluminous bun, headscarf hairstyle or even retro butterfly clips to finish off the look.
