Middle part, side part, extreme side part...we all have our favorite ways of parting our hair. But did you know that the way you part your hair can have a huge impact on the overall look of your face? Just like the right hair cut can do wonders for your face shape, the way you part your hair can also have a similar effect on your look.
This week, Stephanie will guide you through 3 different ways to part your hair and what effect each part has on your face. Check out the video below or scroll down to learn more.
Middle Part
Best For:
The middle part has gained popularity in the past few years and is the quickest and easiest way to part your hair. This part is great for those with round faces, as it allows the hair to flow evenly on both sides of the face, elongating it. When wearing a middle part, you can have your hair flirty and loose in soft waves like Stephanie, or go for the high fashion look and slick down your hair with hairspray into a low ponytail.
How To Do It:
To get the perfect middle part, position your comb right at the center of your brows in the middle of your face, then run the comb backward, separating the hair. If you have a lot of baby hairs, be sure to separate them at the front of your face to really define that part.
The Side Part
Best for:
The side part is most women's go-to hair part, as it gives off easy, girl-next-door vibes. This part is usually great for those with square face shapes or diamond face shapes, as it shows off the angles of your face.
How to do it:
Position your comb at the center of your eyebrow, and run it back, creating a side part. The best thing about a side part is that you can keep the part a bit messy, so if you're going for a more casual look, you can even use your fingers to quickly separate your hair.
If you have bangs, blow dry them with a round brush for volume before tossing them to the side. If you don't have bangs, you can choose to keep your hair loose and flowy like Stephanie's or slick it down. Sidenote, a sleek side part is a great "cheat" hairstyle for oily hair days!

The Extreme Side Part
Best for:
This is a full-on red carpet look—you will notice that many celebrities tend to rock this sexy look at awards shows, and for good reason! With an extreme side part, most of your hair is off to one side, with your cheekbones taking center stage. Add in some curls or loose waves, and statement earrings, and you've got yourself a glam look perfect for a night on the town or a fancy dinner with friends.
The extreme side part is great for those with round faces as it elongates the face, as well as for those with heart-shaped faces, as it will soften up the angles of your cheekbones and widen your chin area.
How to do it:
To create an extreme side part, take your comb, position it at the end of your eyebrow, and run it backward. Because your hair likely isn't used to being parted in this way, you may find that the hair around your face falls back, or if you have baby hairs, they may get in the way of a clean part.
To fix this, take a tiny bit of hair oil (one drop is enough!) and apply it to any areas where the part needs cleaning up. This will also help keep your baby hairs at bay.
