To give you some inspiration, our friend Josie is showing you how to create 5 sexy New Year’s party hairstyles you can wear for your night out.
Whether you’re going the glam route in a sequined gown or are opting for something understated like a classic little black dress, the right hairstyle is always the best hair accessory.
Josie wears her 220g Dirty Blonde Luxy Hair extensions to give her hair extra length and volume.
Hair down, slicked-back hairstyle
Step 1
Ensure your hair and your Luxy Hair extensions are straightened before clipping them in place. Josie prefers to double up her wefts for easy styling. Be sure focus the wefts at the back of your head so they don’t peek through the sides when you slick your hair back.
Step 2
Take some gel and start running it through your hair starting at the roots and working backward with your fingers. Don’t worry too much about the sides; focus on the top part of your head and ensuring it is slicked back. Use a hair brush to give you a sleek look and ensure no hairs are out of place.
Step 3
Use a drop or two of hair oil for the sides, smoothening down any flyaways. Then, tuck your hair behind your ears, adding in bobby pins if you want some extra hold.
Step 4
Finish off the look with some hairspray, and there you have it: a striking look that is fierce and elegant!
Slicked-back high ponytail
Step 1
With your Luxy Hair extensions clipped in, pull your hair back at the crown of your head into a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Josie uses two hair ties to ensure her ponytail doesn’t fall out of place throughout the night. You’ll notice your ponytail will already look very voluminous and bouncy.
Step 2
Take a small section of hair from the bottom of your ponytail and wrap it around the hair elastic, securing it in place with a bobby pin for a more elevated look. It’s an easy look to achieve and it’s perfect for the girl who wants to spend her night on the dance floor.
Ariana Grande-inspired half updo
Step 1
Pull half your hair back into a high ponytail.
Step 2
Clip two 1-clip wefts together and secure one on either side of the ponytail. Take a piece of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it around to conceal the hair elastic.
Step 3
Using a hairbrush, gently tease the top layer to add some extra fullness.
Step 4
You can either leave your hair straight or add in some extra curls for a look that’s more Ariana-esque. Josie opts to curl her hair with a 1-inch curling wand for some added glamour and bounce.
Space buns
Step 1
Leave out some face-framing pieces of hair and tie your hair off into a ponytail where you want the space buns. Josie wears hers high on either side of her head.
Step 2
Curl the pieces of hair you’ve left out of your space buns so they frame your face.
Step 3
Wrap each ponytail around the base to create a space bun. Secure in place with a bobby pin. This look is perfect for an unconventional New Year’s party or for the gal looking to rock a more adventurous ‘do.
Hollywood glam curls
Step 1
Part your hair on the side.
Step 2
On the side with more hair, start curling sections towards your face, as this is characteristic of the old Hollywood vibe. You can keep the hair on the other side curled away from your face.
Step 3
Secure the hair on the non-dominant side behind your ear with a bobby pin to hold it in place. There you have it; a classic and timeless look that’s guaranteed to look chic and sophisticated.
