Through navigating the world of perfectly imperfect waves, shoulder-grazing lobs, the art of the perfect messy bun or choosing the rights bangs for your face shape, there is one hairstyle you can always count on to get you through a night out, the workday, or a workout...the humble ponytail.
Whether it's a textured high ponytail, an elegant low ponytail, a stylish braided ponytail or a sleeker look to hide that third-day hair, it's no wonder the ponytail has remained a staple hairstyle for all women.
But what happens when your ponytail just doesn't have that lift, life, or length you'd like it to? A thin, limp ponytail just doesn't have the same effect than a long, thick, bouncy one, does it?
That's why we've put together this tutorial, to show you three different ways to get a longer, thicker ponytail instantly using hair extensions: a high ponytail, a textured ponytail, and a low ponytail. These styles are quick and easy to create, which make them a perfect choice to amp up an everyday ponytail. By strategically clipping in a few wefts, you can easily and quickly make your ponytail look longer without the need of an additional faux clip-in ponytail.

Ponytail 1: High ponytail with hair extensions
You know how the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," and you can never go wrong with a classic, perky high ponytail.

Step 1
Start off with by separating a small ponytail at the crown of your head. This little ponytail will act as a secure base for clipping in your hair extensions.
Step 2
Take a 3 clip weft and start clipping it in around the ponytail. Be sure to clip it in as close to the hair elastic as possible, so that you will have space to clip in other wefts. The tighter you clip these wefts in around the hair elastic, the more comfortable and secure it will be.
Step 3
Continue to clip the rest of the 2 clip and 3 clip wefts in the same way, around the little ponytail that you’ve created. You can also stack a bunch of wefts on top of each other, then wrap the whole mega weft around the ponytail if it is easier. For even more thickness, you can use 1 clip wefts and clip them onto the wefts that are already clipped into your hair.
Step 4
Now, gather all the remainder of your hair into a high ponytail, covering the first ponytail fully. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie and smooth away any flyaways.
Step 5
To finish off the look and conceal any wefts that may be poking out, take a strand of hair and wrap it around the base of your ponytail, fully hiding the hair elastic. Use a bobby pin it to secure the hair strand underneath the ponytail.

This is probably our favorite way to wear hair extensions in a ponytail—the whole idea is to clip in the wefts in the same direction that your hair would go in naturally when put up in a ponytail, to avoid any lumps and bumps from the wefts.
Step 2
Separate some hair about halfway at the front of your head and clip in a 2 clip weft facing downward. If you want more volume in your ponytail or have shorter hair, you can stack two wefts and clip them in this section.
Step 3
Separate another section of hair toward the crown of your head and flip upside down. Then, clip in a 4 clip weft upside down. This way, when you gather your hair into a high ponytail, the clips will not pull at your roots. Continue separating sections of hair and clipping the remaining 4 clip and 3 clip wefts in, until you are satisfied with the thickness of your hair.
Step 4
Gather your hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Then, take out a few face-framing pieces at the front for a messier look.
Step 5
Tug your hair at the roots for added texture at the top, then backcomb sections of the ponytail using a Loop Hair Extensions Brush. For extra texture, scrunch the hair upwards with your hand before adding a bit of hairspray to set the look.
Ponytail 3: Low ponytail with hair extensions
For this hairstyle, you can either clip in a couple of 3 and 4 clip wefts or your full set of hair extensions for maximum length and thickness.

Step 1
Since this ponytail sits lower on your head, clip in your wefts as you normally would.
Step 2
Everytime you clip in a weft, tease your hair at the roots for more volume.
Step 3
Once you have clipped in your full set of hair extensions, pull all your hair into a low ponytail. We love a strong middle part with this ponytail style, however, feel free to part your hair whichever way you like it on you.
Step 4
Using a Loop Hair Extensions Brush, smoothen down any flyaways. If your hair is straight, add a few curls throughout the ponytail, then brush them out for a softer look. You can also leave your hair straight for a edgier feel.
