3 Easy Fall Hairstyles

The fallen leaves, apple picking, pumpkin spice lattes...it’s just about impossible not to love fall. Still, as temperatures start to drop, styling your hair can be a challenge. Sure, the colder weather and low humidity levels mean you probably won’t have to worry about frizz, but trying to rock a cute hairstyle while wearing a knit headband or hat is a struggle of its own. It’s easy to feel like bundling up to stay warm means you have to compromise on looking chic and stylish, but luckily, that’s not the case.

Whether you’re headed to the pumpkin patch or simply running some errands, these fall hairstyles are perfect for whatever the day has in store. Plus, you can rock some trendy fall accessories and make a statement all while staying warm and cozy.

Rachel from the Luxy Hair team shows us how to create three quick and easy fall hairstyles, so whether you’re at a loss for inspiration or have a hard time styling your hair during the colder months, these hair tutorials are sure to help. Check out the video below and follow along.

To add extra length and volume to her hair, Rachel wears her 220g Classic Chestnut Brown Luxy Hair extensions. If your hair is short and difficult to style, or if you just want some extra fullness, we recommend clipping in your hair extensions before trying out these looks.

Hairstyle 1: The Twisted Ponytail

This look is perfect for the girl who wants a timeless, classic hairstyle.

Step 1

A woman with hair extensions putting her hair up to show the weft hair extensions.

Begin by dividing your hair into three sections, ensuring the largest section of hair is at the back of your head. We recommend using two 4-clip wefts at the back of your head before tying your hair into a ponytail with a hair elastic.

Step 2

Next, start twisting each of the sections at the front of your head, gathering the hair gradually as you work towards the back of your head. Make sure to take your time, working slowly to prevent flyaways and bumps as you twist your hair.

Step 3

Untie the ponytail, adding in the first twisted section of hair before repeating the process on the other side.

Step 4

A person braiding long brown hair extensions.

To add some extra detail to the style, clip two 1-clip wefts together, and braid them into a single strand. Clip the braided weft underneath the ponytail and wrap it around to hide your hair elastic. This will elevate your look, making it perfect for a fancier fall occasion while hiding any mistakes you’ve made in the process.

Step 5

Rachel accessories this style with a classic black hat to tie everything together. It’s a fast and easy hairstyle to achieve but it still looks intricate and polished.

Hairstyle 2: The Low Bubble Side Braid

For a modern take on a Rapunzel-esque style, the Low Bubble Side Braid is perfect.

Step 1

To achieve this look, simply tie off your hair into a low ponytail. Rachel opts for a loose, off-centre braid to ensure it won’t get in the way, allowing her hat to sit securely on her head. If you prefer, you can also tie your hair into a regular low ponytail.

Step 2

Next, using thin elastics, start tying the ponytail off into sections, making sure that each division is even. Depending on the length of your hair and the size of each section, you may have more or less sections than Rachel, but you should still be able to achieve a similar look.

Step 3

Gently pull on the hair in each section to loosen it up, creating a rounded, bubble effect.

Step 4

A long-haired woman sporting ponytail hair extension and rubber band.

Rachel styles her ponytail on one side of her head, taking out a face-framing strand of hair for an effortless look. A perfect get out of bed and run out the door kind of hairstyle, it’s perfect for the girl on the go and looks great styled with a Baker Boy cap.

Step 5

If it’s a sleeker look you’re after, use some hairspray and a small brush to help define the bubbles and keep frizz and flyaways at bay. This will ensure your style lasts all day.

Hairstyle 3: The High Braided Bun

A woman with a knotted hair tie headband, wearing hair extensions.

A creative spin on the classic ballerina bun, this look is timeless and super chic.

Step 1

A woman holds her hair up in a ponytail, using one hand.

Start off by gathering your hair into a high ponytail at the crown of your head.

Step 2

Next, braid your ponytail, wrapping it into a bun and securing it into a hair elastic. If you want a bolder, more daring look, use the same method to create two buns on either side of your head.

Step 3

A woman with a messy bun hairstyle, featuring hair extensions that add volume and texture to her look.

Top off the look with a with a headband or some ear muffs. Rachel’s twisted knit headband will not only keep her ears warm, it also gives her outfit a dose of fall feels.
