Have you ever heard the quote, "Everyday is a fashion show, and the world is your runway?"
Well, we love this quote because it encourages you to let your individuality shine through your outfit, hair, and makeup choices, and to wake up everyday treating yourself like a supermodel.
Keeping this in mind, we've teamed up with Elanna Pecherle in this week's video to show you how to get it - girl and supermodel Gigi Hadid's effortless, face framing waves, so you too can make the world your runway. Wanna see how to achieve the makeup look, too? Keep on reading.
Gigi Hadid usually keeps her hair colour at Chestnut Brown or Dirty Blonde, however, in this tutorial, Elanna uses her Seamless Blonde Balayage clip-in Luxy Hair extensions, which have been cut shorter for some extra sun-kissed highlights and volume through her hair.
Instead of clipping in your Luxies and then curling your hair, we recommend to clip and curl in sections - not only is this easier to do, but will ensure that the extensions and your hair are curled together for a seamless blend. Check out the video below or scroll down for instructions.
Step 1: Clip two 3-clip wefts in just below your ear
Section off your hair just below your ear, and clip your 3-clip wefts in. Elanna doubles up her 3 clip wefts for this step, however, you can simply use 1 weft if it is more comfortable for you.
Step 2: The "I woke up like this" curl
Gigi Hadid's hair never looks like she just had it done, yet it always looks perfect!
Here's the secret: using a 1 - 1.5 inch curling iron, clip a 1 inch section of hair at the top. Then, rotate the wand away from your face, while dragging it down slightly. Hold it for a few seconds, then untwist the hair out of the curling iron. Rotate the curling iron again, hold for another second, then unloop the hair again, and finish off with a slight curl at the end.
If you have medium to short hair, this technique also works! Just be sure to leave the ends of the hair straight, rather than curling it so that you don't lose any length. Leave the hair to set, and be sure not to touch the curls!
If you don't have a curling iron and only have a wand, we recommend to use curl #5 in this video, to get that effortless, loose wave.
Step 3: Clip two 4-clip wefts in at the widest part of your head.
Section off your hair at the middle of your head where it is widest, and clip your 4-clip wefts in. Again, you can use just 1 weft if you'd like.
Step 4: Curl your hair toward your face
Follow Step 2 to create that effortless curl, however, this time, clip the hair in behind your curling iron and curl the hair toward your face. This will ensure that your hair has extra texture at the end and give you that super tousled, breezy look.
Step 5: Add 1-clip wefts at your temples for added thickness and curl.
For this step, you can either use two 1-clip wefts or a single 2-clip weft at each side, by your temples. Curl this layer of hair away from you face again.
Step 6: Let the rest of the hair down and curl your hair away from your face
Continue to follow Step 2 to achieve consistent curls throughout.
Step 7: The fun part!
Now that your hair is all twisty and curled, it's time to tousle it up and get it looking all Gigi-ish. To do this, simply take a brush and lightly brush through the curls. Be sure not to totally brush your hair because you may end up brushing out the curls altogether. The goal here is simply to soften up the curls and make sure the hair doesn't look so "piecey".
Step 8: Add some product
You can either use hair pomade or a texturizing spray to give the hair that extra texture and grit. Elanna uses texturizing spray by picking up a section of hair with her fingers and butterflying the spray through the middle and ends of the hair. This gives the hair extra fullness and finishes it off, making it look like you didn't even do your hair! (It's okay, your secret's safe with us.) Now, if only we could land ourselves Gigi Hadid's boyfriend Zayn Malik, life would be complete! ;)
