Holiday hair looks to match your makeup

Getting that holiday hair and makeup look just right can sometimes be easier said than done. While makeup blogs and beauty mags preach glitter and sparkles, and hairstyle resources offer an abundance of party hairstyle tutorials, choosing the right combination of hair and makeup to go with your outfit and personal vibe can be challenging.

That's why we've put together the following guide to help you choose the right holiday hairstyle to match your makeup look. Whether you're off to an office holiday party, friends-mas, Channukah, or family gathering, each look takes a different level of glam into account, so you can choose the perfect pairing for your style.

Soft & natural

Holiday hair and makeup

If you're the type to keep things simple every day with a bare face and lip gloss, this is the look for you. This "no-makeup" makeup look paired with flowing undone curls makes this holiday hair and makeup look perfect for a daytime event.

The makeup

Step 1

Start with a simple foundation and powder base. We recommend a full coverage foundation to give yourself a flawless face, however, if you are blessed with naturally unblemished skin, simply apply a bit of tinted moisturizer.

Step 2

Emphasize your features by applying a bronzer on the contours of your face, and around your hairline, to give your face that natural glow. Then, dust a light highlighter on your cheekbones to brighten your face up.

Step 3

Apply a light dusting of a natural pink blush on the apples of your cheeks toward the back to give your skin some life.

Step 4

Neaten your brows with a natural brow gel, then swipe on some light mascara.

Step 5

With an understated look like this, a natural lip is best, so we recommend opting for a lip-stain rather than a heavier lipstick.

Step 1

We've paired this soft, natural makeup look with effortless waves. While this look is understated, it's still a holiday look so go ahead and clip in a few wefts of your Luxy Hair extensions to add some thickness and life to your hair.

Step 2

Use a 1 1/2 inch curling wand to go around your head and curl your hair from the mid-shaft to the ends, alternating directions as you make your way around your head. This will give the curls that effortless, natural look.

And that's it! Pair this holiday hair and makeup look with a sweater dress and some gold hoops, and thigh-high boots to bring the look together.

The statement lip

If anything screams "it's the holidays!", it's a beautiful, bold red lip. It's also the perfect way to glamorize your natural makeup with as little effort as possible because let's face it, no one wants to spend an hour applying makeup when there are presents to open and eggnog to drink.

The makeup

Step 1

The lips are the star here, so keep the face simple with a full-coverage base, a little bronzer and lots of highlight.

Step 2

Use a simple brow gel to keep the brows looking fluffed and natural, then apply a few coats of mascara to open up the eyes.

Step 3

The pièce de résistance: Use a matte, bright liquid lipstick to finish off the look. Liquid lipstick is ideal for this look as it glides on easily but stays put all night, so you can go ahead and drink that champagne without worrying about reapplying.

Step 1

Clip in your Luxy Hair extensions. This will add length and thickness to your hair, amplifying the entire style.

Step 2

Using a 1 1/2 inch curling wand, begin to add your curls. Depending on the occasion, you can curl in all the same direction for that more formal, princess curl style, or you can switch directions for a more undone look.

Step 3

Once you’ve curled all your hair, pull back half your hair to the back of your head, using a sparkly barrette or clip to secure it. Then, tug a few pieces of hair at the roots to loosen them from the clip and give the style a little more volume.

Pair this holiday hair and makeup look with a classic little black dress or cozy sweater—it's that versatile!

The bold brow

Holiday hair and makeup

The evolution of brows has come a long way from those little wisps popular in the 2000s, and while we're not sure where the brow trend is headed next, we have a feeling the bold brow is here to stay for a while.

The makeup

Step 1

Apply your regular foundation routine.

Step 2

Keep the eyes subdued so they don't compete with your brows. Mascara and a little bit of eyeliner will do the trick.

Step 3

Start off by using an eyebrow pen to fill in your brows and shape them to your liking. It's okay to go slightly over your natural hairline, as we're going for that bold look. Then, use a brow pomade to give your brows a little more shape, and finish off with a brow mascara to give them a natural fluff.

Step 4

Tie the look together with a nude lip.

The hair

Step 1

Since the focus of this look is the face and eyebrows, this look pairs best with a voluminous, long ponytail. Section off your hair at the back of your head clipping in your Luxy Hair extensions from bottom to top. When clipping in your wefts, be sure to clip them in upside down to ensure that the wefts lay flat when you gather your hair into the ponytail.

Step 2

Gather all your hair into a dramatic, high ponytail, and you're done!

Pair this holiday hair and makeup look either with a casual top for those trips to the pumpkin patch or a strapless party dress for an ultra-bold look.

Glittery glam

Holiday hair and makeup

This holiday look is a staple, combining big hair, glitter, a bold eye, and of course, color.

The makeup

This makeup look really focuses on your eyes—apply your regular foundation and brow routine to start.

Step 2

Use a natural shadow pallet with an array of warmer tones, and amplify the eyes with golden hues and warm bronzes. Don't be afraid to apply those super glittery shades for this look!

Step 3

Apply a sleek winged eyeliner.

Step 4

Finish off the lips in a warm, matte brown shade.

The hair

Step 1

Clip in your full set of Luxy Hair extensions.

Step 2

Use 1 1/2 inch curling wand to create tight curls around your head. Curl all the strands in the same direction for this hairstyle, and be sure to let the curls cool down in your hand to help them retain their bouncy shape.

Step 3

Create a deep side part, and apply a bit of hairspray to hold the hair in place.

Pair this holiday hair and makeup look with a large scarf for daytime or a red dress at night to bring out those golden eyes.

Hollywood Glam

Ready to get dolled up this holiday season? Then this is the glam look for you.

The makeup

Step 1

Start with a full coverage foundation base. You want to look as much like a porcelain doll as you can.

Step 2

From there, it’s important to add a little bit of color in your face by adding some bronzer and blush.

Step 3

For your eyeshadow, we recommend using a lighter color in the corner of your eye and using a darker color that contrasts on the outer corner of your eye, blending the shades carefully to create additional depth.

Step 4

Apply a thick, black winged eyeliner and use a brow pen and brow mascara on your eyebrows for a major pop of drama.

The hair

Holiday hair and makeup

Step 1

Curl your hair using hot rollers, which give the hair a more old-school curl, and more lift at the roots. Do the same to your Luxy Hair extensions.

Step 2

Clip the hair extensions into your curled hair.

Step 3

Once your hair extensions are clipped in, sweep all your hair to the side, and tuck the hair under itself, using bobby pins to secure sections of hair. This updo hairstyle is meant to be loose and undone, so don't be too methodical when pinning your hair up, and let some pieces flow loose.

Step 4

Tug some face-framing pieces out, and you're done!

Pair this holiday hair and makeup look with a gown and a statement necklace to complete the look.

We hope you feel inspired to win over this holiday season with some of these hair and makeup combinations. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below. Also, be sure to recreate these looks and tag us with the hashtag #myluxyhair. We'd love to see!
