Celebrity hair wins from the 2019 Oscars & Grammys

Awards season is in full swing, and if you're anything like us, you're still buzzing over Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's emotional rendition of Oscar-winning Best Original Song Shallow last night. Also taking home the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the recent Grammy Awards, we're so excited to see what's next for the duo as the MTV VMAs are next to air in August.

For some, the Oscars and Grammys are a time to celebrate accomplishments in music and art. For others, it's learning about films and artists they may not have heard of. Regardless, no one can deny that watching elegant celebrities sashaying down the red carpet in couture gowns and glamorous hair and beauty looks is usually the highlight of the night.

While the Oscars may have had some logistical hiccups and controversy along the way, both award shows eventually went off without a hitch, and we couldn't help but take note of our favorite celebrity hair wins. After all, we are a hair company, and hair is what we do. Read on to see our favorite hair looks from the Oscars and Grammys. Do you agree with our list? Which celeb wore your favorite look of the night? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

1. Miley Cyrus: 2019 Grammys

The look: Bedhead beach waves

Miley Cyrus 2019 GrammysMiley Cyrus arrives at the Grammys in a sleek black pantsuit and beachy bedhead waves.

We're loving Miley's latest polished red carpet looks, a far cry from the iconic space buns she would during her VMA performance with Robin Thicke six years ago. Gone are the days of shock-value looks, as the newlywed arrived at the 61st Grammy Awards in a refined black tie two-piece. Miley's bright blonde balayage locks were tousled effortlessly to the side, held with a bit of pomade to keep flyaways at bay. Paired with a subtle lip and winged eyeliner, all we can say is Liam Hemsworth is a lucky man!

We're all about achieving these just-woke-up-like-this beach waves with as little heat as possible, so give these heatless donut waves a try to achieve Miley's look. Finish off the hairstyle by rubbing a bit of hair pomade on your fingers to hold down your side part.

2. Dua Lipa & St. Vincent: 2019 Grammys

Dua Lipa St Vincent 2019 GrammysDua Lipa and St. Vincent are rock goddesses in matching slicked down bob hairstyles.

The look: Slicked down bob hairstyle

Best New Artist winner Dua Lipa and Best Rock Song winner St. Vincent looked like a couple of badass rock goddesses during their joint performance of Masseduction and One Kiss. Coincidentally, both beauties were sporting the same short bob hairstyle at the time, choosing to play their similarities up. Dua wore her hair in a middle part while Vincent opted for a deep side part, but both styles featured the same high-shine, slicked down finish.

Whether your hair is short or long, you can't go wrong with a sleek hairstyle—better yet, if you're on second or third-day hair, use your oily hair to your advantage! Finish off the look with a drop or two of hair oil to lock down flyaways.

3. Kelsea Ballerini: 2019 Grammys

The look: textured balayage waves

Kelsea Ballerini 2019 OscarsKelsea Ballerini goes from short lob to long locks using hair extensions.

We're not only crushing on country singer Kelsea Ballerini's effortless textured waves, but the color of them too. Usually sporting a textured lob, the Grammy-nominated star added hair extensions to her locks to create these textured beachy waves.

Kelsea's hair is a beautiful shade of Blonde Balayage, transitioning from Dirty Blonde to Ash Blonde at the bottom. To achieve this look, our Seamless Blonde Balayage Luxy Hair extensions would be perfect to blend seamlessly in hair similar to hers. Have darker hair? No problem! Check out the full range of balayage hair extensions here to achieve balayage hair instantly.

4. Cardi B: 2019 Grammys

The look: wet n' wavy

Cardi B 2019 GrammysCardi B's wet-look hair slays at the 2019 Grammys.

While we're on the subject of sleek looks, we couldn't help but fall in love with Cardi B's wavy version of the wet-hair trend. The Best Rap Album winner sported a slicked back shoulder-length do' with bends and movement, complete with a Grecian-style gown with a soft, draped neckline.

The beauty of this hairstyle is you can leave your hair natural or straighten it for an edgier feel. Simply take a bit of hair gel and run it through your roots, working it towards the back. Finish off with hair oil on the sides, and you're ready for your close up!

5. Lady Gaga: 2019 Grammys

The look: undone waves with last night's makeup

Lady Gaga 2019 GrammysCould anyone look chicer in last night's hair and makeup than Lady Gaga?

Mother Monster not only took home a whopping three Grammys, but debuted two different looks throughout the night. One of her most tame looks yet, we fell in love with Gaga's undone platinum blonde waves and dark shadow root. To go with her loose waves Gaga's glam squad wanted her makeup to look like "she put it on yesterday," so they went ahead with some smudged kohl liner, dark shadow at the outer corners, and skipped the mascara.

6. Jennifer Lopez: 2019 Oscars

The look: Old Hollywood waves

Jennifer Lopez 2019 OscarsJ-Lo's glam waves and futuristic gown are a killer combo.

Jenny from the Block is all grown up, and all eyes were on her at the 2019 Oscars as she turned up in a figure-hugging Tom Ford gown made up entirely of head-to-toe sparkling mosaic mirrors. We love the juxtaposition of her futuristic gown, paired with timeless, glamorous waves reminiscent of Old Hollywood. With a deep side part and smokey eye completing the look, J-Lo may not have been nominated for any Academy Awards, but she's definitely a contender for the Best Hair category in our books.

The key to Old Hollywood waves is to curl the hair toward your face, rather than away. Try looser waves like J-Lo for a more modern feel, or tighter curls to really exude your inner Judy Garland or Marilyn Monroe.

7. Jason Momoa: 2019 Oscars

The look: Beach waves with retro scrunchie

Jason Momoa 2019 OscarsWe're loving Jason Moma's retro pink scrunchie at the 2019 Oscars.

Okay ladies, let's face it. Jason Momoa has better hair than most of us, and we aren't even mad about it. Having perfected the art of the beach wave with subtle ombre highlights, Aquaman and wife Lisa Bonet arrived to the Oscars in matching pink outfits designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld. Our favorite touch? Jason's retro velvet pink Fendi scrunchie he sported on his wrist.

We love Jason's hair because of its subtle ombre highlights, transitioning from light to dark, easily achieve with ombre clip-in hair extensions. Once your hair extensions are clipped in, learn how to create beach waves using a curling wand

8. Ashley Graham: 2019 Oscars

The look: Sleek ballerina bun with middle part

Ashley Graham 2019 OscarsAshley Graham's ballerina bun complete with tiny bows is a work of art.

From Jason Momoa to Ashley Graham, it's safe to say the middle school hair accessories are back and here to stay. Ashley stole the show with an updated sleek ballerina bun complete with tiny velvet hair bows by designer Jennifer Behr throughout. Paired with a classic diamond necklace and an elegant black Zac Posen gown, Ashley's glamorous yet classic look was the perfect combo.

In order to achieve a full bun like Ashley's be sure to clip in a few wefts of your Luxy Hair extensions toward the bottom of your head for extra volume and thickness. This also allows for a solid base for your hair bows to clip in. Create a middle part, then use a drop or two of hair oil or hair gel if you need a stronger hold, to slick the hair down before creating your bun. Click here for full instructions on how to create a sleek low bun.

9. Constance Wu: 2019 Oscars

The look: thick high ponytail

Constance Wu 2019 OscarsThere's nothing crazy about Constance Wu's sleek, thick ponytail!

The sleek high ponytail is a hairstyle staple—just ask Ariana Grande, who's entire career now revolves around her hair (and angelic voice, of course). Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu rolled up to the Oscars in a classic, thick high ponytail complete with classic red lip and cat-eye winged eyeliner. The key to creating this high ponytail? Hair extensions, of course.

In order to create a high ponytail with hair extensions, the trick is to clip in the wefts upside down. This way, you can gather all your hair into a ponytail with a smooth finish, and no bumps or lumps at the roots.

10. Regina King: 2019 Oscars

The look: textured lob

Regina King 2019 Oscars
Regina King's voluminous textured lob pairs beautifully with her strapless white gown.

Oscar winner Regina King had one hell of a night. From being escorted on stage by Captain America himself, and winning the award for Best Supporting Actress for If Beale Street Could Talk we couldn't help but take notice of Regina's elegance and class. Sporting a textured lob (long bob) with voluminous waves complete with a flowing white gown, Regina's Oscar look was worthy of an award itself.

Learn how to style a voluminous textured lob using a flat iron here. Oh, and if your hair just doesn't have the volume you need, there's always hair extensions to help. Simply take a trip to your hair salon and have them trim the extensions shorter to add volume and thickness to your short 'do.
