  • Do you have any sample swatches?

We understand it can be difficult to determine your perfect color match from a computer screen. Screens will vary slightly in color and you may think that you're a close match between both Dark Brown and Chocolate Brown. If only you could see the two colors in person to feel absolutely confident with your purchase!

We're now happy to offer up to three color sample swatches to our customers. If you place an order for a sample swatch, you will receive a small lock of hair that is dyed perfectly to reflect the colors we offer in our full sets.

These swatches should be used for color comparison purposes only and are not offered in Classic or Seamless as the base of the weft is not included. Each full set of Clip-In & Halo extensions includes a tester weft. Buns and Ponytails also contain a test swatch. You can use this weft to compare it to your own hair to determine whether or not the shade is the right match for you. If it's not an ideal match, we offer 60-day returns and exchanges if the color doesn't match. We support you!

  • Do I need to have highlights in my hair to wear the Highlights collection?

Yes, we recommend this collection for those who already have highlights in their hair as it will complement your existing highlights.

Those with a solid hair color can opt for this collection as well since it will add dimension to your hair, however, please keep in mind the highlights will be very subtle. If you have a solid hair color, we recommend you check out our Balayage collection.

  • I have short hair. Can I wear the Highlights collection?

Those with solid colored short hair (shoulder to chin length) will not benefit from this collection. Instead, we encourage you to look into our Balayage collection to add sun-kissed dimension to your hair. If you have short hair with highlights, you can wear the Highlights collection. • How do I use the Halo® Volume Bundle with short hair?

Below is a great example of how our beautiful friend, Kaitlin, adds length to her short hair using the Luxy Hair Halo Volume Bundle. It consists of:

    • One 140 gram 12" Halo weft
    • Two 20 gram 2-clip wefts
    • One 45 gram 4-clip Classic Volumizer Weft

One of the biggest giveaways that you are wearing hair extensions is the bottom layers of your own hair that show underneath the extensions. To ensure the most seamless blend with your short hair you must first section off the bottom of your hair (from the top of your ear to ear), braid it (or tye it back using an elastic band), and pin it securely against your head.

    1. Apply your Halo weft as normal. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to do this.
    2. Next, part your hair (similar to how you parted your hair before applying the Halo) slightly above where you placed your Halo weft. Clip your 4-clip Volumizer Weft along where you parted your hair.
    3. Then, secure a 2-clip weft at the temple of your head about two inches above your ear, fastening the clip closest to your hairline first. Do the same on the other side with the remaining 2-clip weft.

  • What is the difference between the Highlight & Balayage collections?

The Highlights collection features thin highlights starting from the root straight through to the ends. This collection is designed to blend into hair that has already been highlighted, eliminating the need to get your hair extensions custom-dyed. This is great for those looking to further accentuate their highlights. To learn about how to choose between our Highlights colors, click here.

The Balayage collection features hand-painted highlights that start several inches from the root with darker pieces left at the bottom to give the hair that extra depth and dimension. This collection is great for those who have a solid hair color and are looking for a damage-free way to add sun-kissed dimension to their hair. • Will my Bundle be Classic or Seamless?

Majority of Bundles will come with a full Luxy Hair set and Volumizer weft from the same collection (Classic or Seamless). This means that if you order a 20" Classic Bundle, you will receive a Classic full Luxy Hair set + a Classic Volumizer weft. Similarly, if you order a 20" Seamless Bundle, you will receive a Seamless full Luxy hair set + a Seamless Volumizer weft.

The only exceptions are the following shades in the 20" Seamless Bundles:

    • Ash Blonde
    • Dirty Blonde
    • Chestnut Brown
    • Chocolate Brown
    • Mocha Brown
    • Off Black
    • Ombre Chestnut
    • Ombre Blonde

This simply means that you will instead receive a: Seamless full Luxy Hair set + a Classic Volumizer weft.

Both our Seamless and Classic collections can be mixed together just fine. They will not feel any different in your hair, and it will not be noticeable.

Yes, a tester weft will be included in all full Luxy Hair sets which is the larger box of the two that you'll receive. Stack the Volumizer weft on top of the 4-clip weft from your full set. It can be clipped in directly underneath the band. This means that you'll have double the thickness but will only need to clip in one weft still. See the video below.

    Halo® Bundle

Section off the bottom half of your hair and clip in your 4-clip Volumizer weft at the roots. Then, apply your Halo® hair extensions as normal. If you have short hair, please click here for step-by-step instructions.

So, you have a beautiful and unique hair color that doesn't quite match any of the shades we offer. No stress! Luxy Hair extensions are made of 100% remy human hair and can, therefore, be dyed a darker color or toned by a professional hair colorist. We are, however, always open to feedback! Should you be interested in a color, length or other option for hair extensions that we don't currently carry, kindly send us an email at [email protected], and we'll be happy to share your suggestion with our Product Development team for future consideration.

If you have a specific color in mind, please be sure to include a reference photo or a picture of your hair in natural lighting (without any edits) where we can see it from root to ends. We look forward to hearing from you.

  • Are Luxy Hair extensions single drawn and what does that mean?

Yes, Luxy Hair extensions are made from single drawn human hair. This is one of the most natural-looking types of extensions as it mimics your natural hair the best. Single drawn hair has a standard hair ratio where the hair contains a combination of varied hair lengths and does not undergo an additional sorting process to pick out shorter hairs. The hair is thick at the top and tapers off at the bottom, similar to how natural hair grows.

  • Can I use purple shampoo on my extensions?

Although many of our customers have used color depositing shampoos/conditioners/products with much success, we always recommend having a professional hair colorist who has had experience with extensions custom tone your Luxies using a professional toner.

Please keep in mind that purple shampoo will balance out the golden undertones from the Ash Blonde and Bleach Blonde shades and make it cooler, however, depending on your tone of blonde, this may not be the best alternative to making your extensions match better to your hair color. Since there are many different variations of cool-toned blonde shades, this is why we recommend having your set professionally toned to achieve a more seamless match.

Also, we don’t recommend purple shampooing the Dirty Blonde shade as it will most likely not create a fully cool-toned medium blonde color. Instead, it may remove some of the brassiness. If you are looking for a dramatic difference, we recommend having this shade professionally toned.

Unlike our Straight Clip-In Ponytail Extension, the care instructions for the Curly Clip-In Ponytail Extension are different in order to preserve the curl pattern. We don’t recommend dyeing/toning, using water-based products, washing or heat styling (such as straightening, blow-drying or curling).

  • Can I color, tone, or bleach my hair extensions?

So, you have a beautiful and unique hair color that doesn't quite match any of the shades we offer. No stress! Luxy Hair extensions are made of 100% remy human hair and can, therefore, be dyed a darker color or toned by a professional hair colorist. Please note that unlike our Straight Clip-In Ponytail Extension, the care instructions for the Curly Clip-In Ponytail Extension are different in order to preserve the curl pattern. We don’t recommend dyeing/toning or washing it.

So what does remy human hair mean?

Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and completely tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

Luxy Hair extensions use only the finest quality of remy human hair, which means that the hair has been carefully sorted after collecting from the hair donor to ensure all the cuticles are of the same length. It is by far the best quality of clip in human hair extensions on the market because of the care that is required and the time it takes to sort the hair so meticulously. Click here to see how and where our products are made.

What's the best way to color my extensions?

Being super careful with how your hair extensions are dyed is very important to ensuring the quality of your set is preserved. Naturally, dyeing or toning hair extensions can alter the quality of the set slightly, however, we'll provide you with the most important do's and don't's of dyeing your extensions to ensure your set lives a long and healthy life. Click here to learn about how to tone your extensions.

Kindly note, since our Seamless extensions are made with silicone at the base to ensure that they are thin and flat, this material does not take to dye. If you dye your Seamless extensions, the silicone strip will remain its original color after dyeing. Alternatively, our Classic extensions have a fabric base that can be dyed as it will take to the color.

    Do's

    • Always do a test strand prior to dyeing the full set
To do this, mix some of the color and apply it to a small section on one of the one-clip wefts. This will ensure you're satisfied with the results before moving on to the full set. If you don't like the result, you can then make adjustments to the formula or processing time and test it again.

    • Always have a professional hair colorist work on your extensions
Ideally, have someone who has had previous experience working with clip-in hair extensions to ensure the color goes as intended. We always recommend using professional-quality brands for the best results.

    • Pre-wash with sulfate & alcohol-free shampoo before coloring
Luxy Hair extensions come pre-conditioned and this silky coating needs to be removed in order for the color to absorb evenly. Plug your sink and fill it up with lukewarm water. Then, add 2-3 dollops of shampoo into the water, and swish the product around in the water so it's nice and soapy. We recommend washing your hair extensions one weft at a time (1-clip wefts can be collected into one bundle). Hold the weft with one hand at the top, submerge it into the water, and gently wash the hair. Avoid rubbing and be very careful to not tangle the hair. Once you are done, air-dry your Luxies and then you are ready for the color application!

    • Opt for a lighter set of extensions to dye darker
Instead of getting a dark set of extensions to lift/highlight to a lighter shade, we recommend that you select a lighter shade of extensions and deposit a darker dye. Similarly, if you have highlights, we recommend going for a shade that matches the lightest highlight in your hair and having a professional hair colorist add in lowlights to your set.

    • Always use a semi or demi-permanent color and a low volume developer
These dyes are the least invasive and will achieve the same color effect without damaging your extensions. We recommend using a 10 volume developer as it will only deposit color and not lift the hair which can change its integrity.

    • Always apply the color to both sides of the weft and in one direction
Doing this will ensure thorough saturation and that the result is even and not patchy. Remember, it's always better to use more color than far too little. When applying the color, only apply it in a downwards direction. Start from the base of the weft moving downwards towards the ends, following the natural fall of the hair. Applying the color upwards can damage your extensions, and will likely leave them frizzy and tangled.

    • Maintain a moisturizing care schedule
It's always important to keep the hair moisturized, however, color-treated hair will need extra care. We recommend doing a sulfate-free deep conditioning treatment on the extensions after dyeing to ensure that any lost moisture and nourishment is added back into the hair. If possible, leave this on overnight for the best results. We also recommend deep conditioning your Luxies bi-weekly (or as needed) and using products that are specifically formulated for dry and damaged hair, as they will help keep the strands healthy and nourished. Also, look for products that add moisture to the hair like argan oil, coconut oil, castor oil and so on.

      Don't's

        • Dye the entire set altogether
This can cause tangling and it also means that you have less control over the dye deposit. Dye one weft at a time so you have complete control over the outcome.

        • Use any bleach (this includes highlights)
We do not recommend bleaching your Luxies as they have already been dyed at our manufacture, and forcing bleach on hair that has already been dyed can be difficult. Bleaching is a damaging process that will alter the quality and integrity of your set. Increasing the concentration of bleach or leaving it in longer to soak will only lead to damaged hair.

        • Use products that contain sulfates or alcohol
These ingredients strip the hair of its natural oils and will affect their integrity. This, in turn, makes the hair drier and more prone to tangling or matting. Another downside is that these products will fade your hair color quicker. Always be sure to check the ingredient listing on the back of the product to ensure you don’t see the words: SLS, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Alcohol denat, Ethanol, SD alcohol 40, Propanol, Isopropyl, and Propyl.

        • Try to dye them yourself at home or use over-the-counter dyes/toners
Taking the extra step to have a professional work on your extensions will be a worthwhile investment. A boxed hair dye from a drugstore won't give you the option to choose the developer and that is exactly what you don't want. The ratio of peroxide to pigment requires a specific balance. Doing this incorrectly can very easily leave hair dry and damaged if not done correctly.

        • Over-wash them
We don't advice washing colored extensions often as this can strip the hair of its oils and will actually cause the hair color to fade faster. Keep in mind, lighter pastel colors will typically wash out a lot easier than a darker auburn shade.

        • Apply purple shampoo directly to the hair
This can create patchiness and tangling and because certain areas of hair will soak up more of the shampoo which will cause staining and patchiness. We always recommend having a professional hairstylist tone your Luxies with a professional toner to prevent any unwanted results. If you wanted to do it yourself with purple shampoo, we recommend testing a one-clip weft to see how ashy the result will be.

Can I tone them myself with purple shampoo?

Although many of our customers have used color depositing products with much success, we always recommend having a professional hair colorist who has had experience with extensions custom tone your Luxies using a professional toner.

If you wanted to tone your set yourself with purple shampoo, please keep in mind that it will balance out the golden undertones from the Ash Blonde and Bleach Blonde shades and make it cooler, however, depending on your tone of blonde, this may not be the best alternative to making your extensions match better to your hair color.

To learn about how to tone your extensions using purple shampoo, click here.

Can I return/exchange them if I'm not happy with the end result?

Kindly note, dyeing or toning your hair extensions may alter the structure of the hair, resulting in a lowered lifespan. Dyeing and toning Luxy Hair extensions is done at the customer's discretion. Although many of our customers have used these products with lots of success, we are not responsible and can not accept any returns or exchanges on hair extensions that have been treated with dye, toner, or any color depositing shampoos/conditioners/products. Also, we will be unable to provide an exchange or refund for sets that have been damaged due to bleaching

      • Do hair extensions shed and tangle?

        Do clip-in hair extensions shed?

Just like your natural hair, extensions will shed. Shedding is a common occurrence with hair extensions and because they are made of human hair, you can expect some shedding throughout their lifespan. As you brush and style your Luxies, some fall-out may occur so don’t be surprised or worried when this happens. This, however, does not mean to reduce the amount you brush your extensions as you can minimize shedding in other ways. Keep in mind, extensions are more likely to shed when they are dry and brittle.

        Do they tangle?

Matting and tangling is a normal occurrence with not just your natural hair but with all types of hair extensions. This can happen due to a lack of constant brushing, weather, or dryness. A common reason why extensions tangle and get matted throughout the day is because of a combination of sweat, heat, and friction. Also, keep in mind that when human hair is constantly moving around it’s going to matt or ‘clump’ together in pieces.

If you aren’t brushing your hair consistently, you’re giving the hair the opportunity to matt and tangle. During the day, we generate heat at the nape of our neck and scalp, and often times we sweat back there too. Your sweat is salty, acidic and can dry out your hair extensions. When you add additional hair volume to this combination and constantly move your head throughout the day, tangling and matting will occur. Weather can also contribute to tangling, whether it be due to the wind, humidity or heat. Humidity will add a lot of moisture to the environment which will cause your hair to frizz up and tangle. Heat will do just the opposite as it will dry it out.

How do you prevent tangling and reduce shedding?

Thankfully, there are some simple ways to reduce shedding and ensure that your hair extensions remain smooth and tangle-free. To learn more, please click here.

      • What is Ombre?

Ombré is a French word, which means "shadow"—it's a process that dyes the hair in a gradation from dark to light. The outcome is usually darker hair from the roots to the mid-shaft and a transition to a lighter color from the mid-shaft through to the ends. With ombré, there is a noticeable color blocking from dark to light, with a smooth transition in between. This technique is meant to look like the hair has been dip-dyed.

        permalink

      • Will Ombre extensions work if I have short hair?

Yes - we recommend that your hair is at least 9 inches or shorter and that your hair color is a solid shade from root to end. This is because the transition of the Ombre starts 9 inches down the length of each weft. If you have lighter pieces, the extensions will be noticeable and hard to blend.

      • What does Remy mean?

Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and completely tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

Clip-in Luxy Hair extensions use only the finest quality of remy human hair, which means that the hair has been carefully sorted after collecting from the hair donor to ensure all the cuticles are of the same length. It is by far the best quality of clip in human hair extensions on the market because of the care that is required and the time it takes to sort the hair so meticulously.

      • What is the purpose of the tester weft?
We understand that it can be hard determining your perfect Luxy color match from a computer screen. It looks like you're Chocolate Brown overall, but in some photos you think Chestnut Brown may be a better match. Wait—Dark Brown? That may also blend, too! Who knows, maybe you're Dirty Blonde after all.

Clip-in hair extensions are an investment for many people, and we want your purchase to be risk-free and anxiety-free. This is why we designed our packaging to be divided up into two compartments. One of the compartments holding your main set of extensions, and the other compartment holding your tester weft.
A maroon box opened to reveal two boxes of hair extensions.A pink round box with hair extensions inside.

        What is a tester weft?

We'll break down what the tester weft is in a few digestible points.

        • The tester weft is located in the bottom compartment of the rectangular box or the top compartment of the circular box. You can take out this piece to determine if the color is a good match.
        • Your tester weft will be either a 2 or 3 clip weft.
        • This tester weft is part of the full head set. It is the 9th or 10th weft (depending on the weight you purchase) to your set.
        • Your tester weft should be used for color and texture comparison purposes only.

What do I do with the tester weft?

        • Please open this bottom compartment of the box first, prior to opening the main compartment.
        • Unravel the tester weft from it's hair netting.
        • Hold the card and weft up against your hair in natural lighting to determine if the shade is the right match for you.
        • If it's the right match, you may open the main compartment of the box and enjoy your Luxies!
        • If it's not a good match, please wrap the tester weft back in its hair netting and place it back in the bottom compartment of the box. Then, initiate a return or exchange here.

What should I not do with the tester weft?

        • Please do not remove the tester weft from the golden security tie and the card it is attached to.
        • Please do not clip-in the weft to your hair, only hold it up against it. This is because hair extensions are a hygienic product, and since this weft is part of the full head set, if you do not wish to keep the set it will be sold to another customer.
        • Please do not tamper with the tester weft in any way. This includes dyeing, toning, cutting, curling, straightening, and washing.

What is your return and exchange policy?

We are happy to accept all packages back for a return or exchange within 60 days of purchase as long as the main compartment of the box has not been opened or tampered with, and the tester weft is still in its original condition. For more information, click here.

      • Are Seamless hair extensions water resistant?

Yes, Seamless extensions are water resistant. However, we recommend ensuring your extensions don’t come into contact with water for longer than 20 to 30 minutes, like during washing. This is because, over time, water may seep into the base cavities of the silicone weft band. This can make the drying process difficult since silicone is not as breathable as having a fabric base (as is the case with our Classic Collection).

Similar to our Classic Collection, we recommend you avoid swimming or showering with the extensions clipped in to prevent unnecessary damage and tangling with your own hair.

      • Do Seamless hair extensions shed less than Classic hair extensions?

While the base of our Seamless Clip-Ins is thinner, they do not shed any more because of this. The type of care that is put into your extensions will affect how much it sheds. You can minimize shedding by maintaining your Luxies and gently brushing them with your Loop Hair Extensions Brush before and after each use. It won’t cause pulling, snagging, or damage to your wefts. To learn about how to reduce shedding, click here.

Be sure to watch the below video to see how to properly brush hair extensions.

      • What temperature can Seamless hair extensions be styled at? Does heat damage the base of the wefts?

When styling your Seamless extensions with a heat styling tool, we recommend setting your tool at 120C/250F degrees or lower. Anything higher may run the risk of damaging the hair. This is because the hair is not being revitalized at the scalp like our natural hair is, and over time excessive heat and high temperatures may cause wear and tear to your set, and could potentially loosen the silicone bond with the hair. Generally speaking, heat will not damage the base of the weft unless it is very high.

One of the best things about our extensions is that they don’t need to be styled at a high heat temperature any way to see results. Our extensions will curl and straighten with ease using low heat.

      • Are there any special care instructions for Seamless hair extensions?

As is the case with all clip-in extensions, we advise you to care for your Luxies with love. Creating a good routine with your Luxy Hair extensions from the start will help prolong their lifespan. Since they are made from 100% Remy human hair, they can be styled and washed just like your regular hair, however, the more you wash and heat style your extensions, the shorter their lifespan will be, so try to keep washing and product use to a minimum.

Keep in mind that unlike your own hair, which receives natural hydration from the oils on your scalp, hair extensions don’t have a natural hydration source. Therefore, keeping them hydrated is key to keeping them shiny and in good condition.

      • Where does the hair come from?

All of our hair is sourced and manufactured in China. We source our hair straight from verified distributors, who depend on their long-standing reputation for ethical sourcing and quality hair.

We only choose to work with companies where workers are satisfied and happy to be apart of the team. Luxy facilities employ working age staff (mostly middle age women and men) who get a proper salary, normal working hours, weekends off, and holiday leave.

Also, all of our hair is donated, sold, or exchanged fairly. For example, some of our hair is obtained from temples, where hair is a form of donation and a source of revenue for the monastery/ temple for its own expenses and projects. Therefore, it's a from of meritorious deed for the donor, same as donating money or food. We also obtain our hair from many hair salons, who choose to sell their hair instead of throwing it away into the waste stream.

      • Can I have Luxies sewn in to my hair?

We do not recommend to have Luxies sewn in to your hair because wearing your Luxies while sleeping and constantly having them washed are just a couple of factors that will deteriorate your set quicker. We recommend to always clip out your Luxies each night before bed, and to wash them separately.

Here is a super helpful tutorial by our lovely friend, India, who shows how to blend extensions with her naturally curly hair.

You can also air dry your extensions overnight (in a braid, for instance), and when you wake up and clip in your set you will have gorgeous, beachy waves ready to go. Plus, you can also experiment with different curl patterns without having to buy an array of curling wands. Find out 4 ways to air dry your extensions.

      • Can clip-in hair extensions cause balding or hair loss?

No, clip-in hair extensions are not capable of causing bald spots or hair loss.

The typical process for hair growth is when the follicle produces normal strands of hair that grow out over a couple of years, then shed to produce new growth. When a hair follicle is affected, however, it shrinks and becomes smaller in size, and produces hair that is finer than normal. While new hair typically stays put for a couple of years before shedding, affected hair follicles shed much quicker and grows out much slower. As a result, the follicle is not able to continue the proper hair growth life cycle, resulting in balding.

If you are experiencing balding or excessive hair loss, we recommend to consult with your doctor.
